Take Away Fresh Impulses Today

The third day of INTERGEO 2026 is underway and today once again puts current developments, concrete applications, and new perspectives for the geospatial industry center stage.

One focus is on the question of how GeoAI, remote sensing, digital twins, and data-driven analytics can help capture complex spatial relationships faster and more precisely. Various sessions will show how automated evaluations, intelligent models, and connected geodata are making processes more efficient and opening up new possibilities for planning, monitoring, and decision-making.

At the same time, topics such as open geodata, interoperability, standards, and digital sovereignty are moving into focus. They form important foundations for exchanging data securely, connecting systems with one another, and making geoinformation reliably usable in the long term.

Just how current these questions are was also shown by yesterday's press conference "The real world. Real data. Real decisions. The next generation of geoinformation." Moderated by Christopher Wirtgen, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rudolf Staiger (DVW e.V.), Marko Prisky (Esri Deutschland), Bernhard Richter (Hexagon Geomatics), Ralf Mosler (Autodesk), Boris Skopljak (Trimble), and Olaf Freier (HINTE Expo & Conference) discussed how the industry is being transformed by AI. The focus was on the shift from rigid programming to trained systems that are increasingly acting autonomously – from digital twins to AI agents. The panelists agreed that humans remain indispensable in this process, and that competition is increasingly revolving around open standards and connected data rather than individual products.

Practical application also plays a central role on the final day of the trade fair. On the MAIN Stage, in the APPLICATION Dome, and at the CONFERENCE, discussions will focus on how geospatial technologies can be used in areas such as urban development, infrastructure, environmental and climate monitoring, and resource management.

That means Day 3 once again offers numerous opportunities to deepen knowledge, discover new approaches, and exchange ideas with experts from the international geospatial community.
