INTERGEO 2025 Press Conference
Frankfurt, 08.10.2025
Under the motto “Rethinking Data: Geodata in the Age of AI Sovereignty and Digital Realities”, this year’s INTERGEO Press Conference highlighted a profound shift in how geospatial information is generated, managed, and applied.
As emphasized in the opening keynote of the INTERGEO Congress, the geospatial industry is entering a new era of innovation. Data is no longer a static snapshot – it has become dynamic, continuously refreshed by sensors and the Internet of Things. It is evolving from isolated datasets to connected ecosystems, flowing seamlessly across platforms, APIs, and collaborative systems. Above all, geospatial data is moving from a passive role to an active driver of decision-making, enabling smarter infrastructures, more resilient cities, and sustainable growth.
At the halfway point of INTERGEO 2025 in Frankfurt, six distinguished guests joined the press conference to discuss the opportunities and challenges ahead:
Prof. Rudolf Staiger, President of DVW – German Society for Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management
Ralf Mosler, BIM Transformation Lead, Autodesk
Sebastian Pache, Business Development Manager, Esri
Henning Sandfort, President, Hexagon Geosystems Division
Boris Skopljak, Vice President, Geospatial Sector, Trimble
Olaf Freier, CEO, HINTE Expo & Conference
The panel explored pressing themes such as the rapid integration of AI, the transformative role of BIM and digital twins, the urgency of open standards and interoperability, and the growing challenge of the talent shortage in the geospatial industry.
Several strong statements underlined the discussions:
“Breaking silos with interoperable, open, standardized systems is essential. Existing standards must be developed to the next level.” (Sebastian Pache, Esri)
“The future is not about data itself – it is about delivering answers. That is the expectation for the next five years.” (Boris Skopljak, Trimble)
“Talent shortage is a critical issue. The enthusiasm visible at INTERGEO needs to be shared beyond the community to attract new generations.” (Henning Sandfort, Hexagon)
