Day 2 of INTERGEO 2025: Many Impressions. Much Knowledge. Great Exchange!
The second day of INTERGEO 2025 in Frankfurt has successfully come to an end. Today, we were able to gain exciting insights, attend inspiring presentations, and discover innovative solutions on both the EXPO and CONFERENCE stages.
A standout highlight was the talk by Prof. Serena Coetzee from the United Nations University (UNU-FLORES) titled “Cartography of the Future” in the CONFERENCE program. She explored the evolution of cartography in light of growing geodata volumes and governance challenges. Her presentation emphasized the need to understand cartography as a dynamic tool for addressing global challenges.
On the Main Stage of the EXPO & CONFERENCE, the focus was on innovations in LiDAR technology, high-density 3D data from airborne platforms, and the integration of multispectral and RGB imagery. The sessions demonstrated how modern technologies enable precise mapping and analysis of landscapes, infrastructure, and urban spaces, addressing current challenges in urban planning, environmental management, and utility infrastructure. At the same time, approaches were presented on how artificial intelligence, digital twins, and automated data analysis can help use geoinformation more efficiently and improve its quality and timeliness.
The importance of open geodata and geodata infrastructures was also highlighted. Discussions on digital sovereignty and standardization set important frameworks for promoting the use and exchange of geodata. These topics are crucial for transparency, collaboration, and innovation within the geospatial community.
In conclusion, the second day of INTERGEO 2025 offered a comprehensive insight into current developments, technologies, and trends in the geospatial community. The topics discussed emphasized the central role of geoinformation in shaping a sustainable and intelligent future.
We look forward with great anticipation to Day 3 and all the exciting highlights that lie ahead. Here’s to another eventful day!
