Mobile Scanning as the Key to Digital Reality

Zoller + Fröhlich GmbH

Zoller + Fröhlich GmbH presents flexible solutions for precise 3D data capture at INTERGEO 2026

Whether in buildings, industrial plants, traffic environments or railway infrastructure: the demand for up-to-date, precise and usable 3D data is continuously increasing. Digital twins, BIM processes, smart city applications and infrastructure asset documentation all require reliable geodata as their foundation.

This is exactly where mobile scanning comes in. While traditional static laser scans deliver the highest level of accuracy, they are often time-consuming for large-scale or complex projects. Mobile scanning systems, by contrast, enable significantly faster data capture — on roads, rails, in industrial halls, buildings or hard-to-access areas. The challenge lies in combining this efficiency with high measurement quality, flexible deployment options and reliable workflows.

Zoller + Fröhlich GmbH addresses these requirements with innovative mobile scanning solutions designed for maximum flexibility and high accuracy. With the Z+F FlexScan® 22 and the Z+F PROFILER® 9025C, the company offers systems for different carrier platforms and application scenarios — from mobile indoor data capture to kinematic mapping in infrastructure environments.

Z+F FlexScan® 22: Mobile efficiency meets static precision

In many projects, users face a trade-off: static scans deliver precise and detailed point clouds, but require individual scan positions and therefore more time on site. Mobile systems significantly accelerate data capture, but do not always achieve the desired geometric quality.

The Z+F FlexScan® 22 combines both worlds. The platform was developed to merge the advantages of static high-end laser scanners with the efficiency of mobile SLAM-based data capture. This makes the system particularly suitable for applications in architecture, facility management, the process industry, heritage conservation, forensics and asset documentation.

Its strength lies in its flexible use: the Z+F FlexScan® 22 can be used as a backpack solution in hard-to-access areas, on mobile platforms indoors or on a tripod for static scans. This versatility reduces the need for multiple individual solutions and makes workflows significantly more efficient for users.

An integrated panoramic camera enables the mobile scan data to be displayed in colour. Further processing is carried out seamlessly in Z+F LaserControl® or via export to common standard formats for third-party software. This allows the captured data to be easily integrated into existing planning, documentation and analysis processes.

The achievable accuracy is particularly noteworthy: the Z+F FlexScan® 22 benefits from the quality of the static high-end scanners from the Z+F IMAGER® 5016 and 5024 series and achieves an accuracy of up to 2.5 millimetres in the SLAM result. This enables even the finest details to be captured in 3D and demanding accuracy requirements to be met.

Z+F PROFILER® 9025C: Mobile mapping for roads, railways and infrastructure

When large infrastructures need to be captured quickly, precisely and reliably, mobile mapping demonstrates its strengths. The Z+F PROFILER® 9025C was developed specifically for demanding kinematic surveying tasks and delivers precise 3D data even at high driving speeds. This makes it ideal for capturing roads, railway lines, tunnels and other infrastructure areas where efficiency and measurement quality are equally important.

With up to 267 revolutions per second and an ambiguity interval of 182 metres, the scanner generates dense, reliable point clouds — even in complex or changing environments. Its robust design and proven sensor technology provide the basis for stable results in everyday practical use.

For realistic and evaluable 3D documentation, the Z+F PROFILER® 9025C is equipped with four integrated 8-megapixel cameras. They deliver high-resolution colour images with a wide dynamic range and enable precise automated colouring of the point cloud. The image data is processed directly in the scanner; external computers and additional cabling are not required. This simplifies system integration, reduces installation effort and increases reliability.

The fully calibrated camera system creates an accurate, colour-realistic 3D representation — ready for analyses, asset documentation, planning processes and further evaluations.
